MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!

"For to us a child is born..to us a son is given..." Isa 9:6
Dear friends, i hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebrations. Christmas is the time when we celebrate Jesus' birthday. It doesn't matter whether Jesus was not born on December 25th as many people claim. The fact remains that Jesus was born to us for a saviour and king, that believing in him we should have eternal life. Therefore Christ is the sole reason for Christmas. Today many people have labored to remove Christ out of Christmas and today many prefer to calling it Happy Holidays of Merry X-mas. This is the work of the devil. Let Jesus Christ remain part of Christmas.
We in Kabale had a glorious time this Christmas! It was a joy to celebrate it with 200 children from our community. Traditionally in African we have known Christmas as a time when friends and families come together and spend time together sharing stories. Different families would meet and have meals together after church service. Then members would go visiting to neighbors. Traditionally, Christmas was know to be a day to dress well and eat good meals. Several families would contribute money to buy a cow to be slaughtered for Christmas.
I remember eating rice and beef for the first time on Christmas. Normally, children look forward to Christmas because they know that their parents will buy new clothes and shoes. Children with no parents or those whose parents cannot afford new shoes and clothes always feel so bad and don't enjoy their Christmas.
We have therefore decided to feed poor children from our community every Christmas. Thank you so much our friends who support us to do this. This time, we were able to feed 200 poor children and orphans from our community.
To most of these children, this is the only time they eat beef or drink a soda! Some of the children said that this was their first time to drink a soda.
Immediately after the Christmas service, the children gathered together at House of Hope children home and lunch was served soon after the first batch of children came in. It was a joy to see children come in groups all very excited. May children did not mind waiting for the seats to come, they sat on the compound and enjoyed their meal.
Thank you our friends and children sponsors that contributed towards this children dinner. We also appreciate the sponsors who sent additional support to buy gifts for the children. Children enjoyed the new clothes and shoes. You made a big difference in their lives.
We wish you all a blessed, fruitful and prosperous New Year!
